February 29, 2008

I didn't do blogging yesterday cuz I've had experienced terrible pains in my belly for almost 2 weeks. Pains started few days before Valentine's Day. Or after that holiday. Every afternoon and night. Aspirins, Advil, did it. Mother thought so. She suggested I should take Tylenol instead. Mom was told by pharmacist. I will purchase it the next time. Right now, I am about recovering from an illness. I am hoping 2 sets of my pills from health food store work. Those pills are now cleaning inside my intestines. U know what I am talking about. I will take them again pretty soon before I eat supper. I hadn't time to walk with walker cuz pains in my belly kept bothering me. I will start to walk again next week when I am feeling great.

Ran Into A Lady Who Recognized Me From Her Past. A Screwed Up DVD Movie.

I forgot to tell u 2 things. My mind went blank yesterday as I was typing a journal about a trip to library last Saturday and my father.
Last Saturday morning while I was at the library, guess who I ran into? A lady recognized me from her past but I don't remember her. She was the one who picked out my name from a glass bowl in the summer of 1997. It was about a contest by newspaper staff, not at a real newspaper station, but I've forgotten what's the name of that newspaper. I can't remember it. It's been a long time. Anyways, I was stunned when I found out about it. Someone called me at home. I won the contest! I can't believe it! The winning prize was about a trip to Busch Gardens in Tampa. Busch Gardens is a famous zoo park and where my hubby and I spent on our honeymoon trip. Wow! I was so excited about it! I called my fiance in Melbourne, south of Daytona Beach, where he worked at my brother's law office immediately. On the phone, I can tell that he's stunned. His future vision is right. Before I won the contest, Todd felt we will may go to Tampa one day. His psychic came true. So the next day or few, I came to the office of newspaper in the building on the beachfront and picked up winning tickets. A staff wanted to take picture of me with winning tickets. I did. I don't have a newspaper picture here at my apt. I think it's at my parents' house but I don't remember where it is. If I find it, I will post it for u bloggers. Anyways, I chatted with a lady little bit at the library. She likes my hair. LOL! It's very pretty. I washed it that Sat morning. It was nice chat with her.
About my father, he's screwed up DVD movie I've rented a month ago. Dad mistakenly took DVD movie, "Stardust", back to the library instead of Blockbuster. I was upset when I found out about it last week. It was an accident. Blockbuster sent a bill to Dad in his name. It was a late fee. He was supposed to read the sign, "Library" or "Blockbuster" but he did not paying attention to read it due to his age. I recall I did give DVD movie back to Dad when I finished watching it a month ago. Last Friday, Dad found this DVD movie at the library. Thank God. Then he returned it to Blockbuster. I am relieved. Whew!

News about Castro and Regis

Did u hear about Cuban President Fidel Casto resigning today?  I guess Fidel can't do a political stuff anymore due to his illness.  I am hoping Cuba will change the law alike U.S.'s.  It means a freedom for Cuban people.  Cuban Americans in Miami are happy when they learned Casto is resigning.

On "Live with Regis and Kelly" this morning, I heard Regis Philbin is becoming a grandfather now.  Yay!  Congratulations to Regis on being Grandfather!  The name of his new grandson is William Xavier.  Xavier is Regis' middle name that had been decided on by his parents.  William was born yesterday morning, Feb 18th at 6 am.  He's 6 lbs.  I am happy for Regis.  Soon, Regis will fly back to L.A. to do Oscars and meet his new grandson.

The Library. DVD Movies

I had a fun Saturday morning. I went to a library for renewing a book and borrowing 2 DVD movies, "Freedom Writers" and "Moby Dick". I purchased an autobiographical book about Paige Davis, a host of "Trading Space" on channel TLC. I am sure u know about her if u have seen "Trading Spaces" since 2001. I stayed there for 1 1/2 hours and then for 3o minutes, I went outside in a wheelchair to look at the beachfront across the river enjoyably. The weather looked nice and sunny and warm. I stayed there in front of the City Hall until Dad showed up unexpectedly. He came in early before noon. Then Dad drove me back to my place.
My parents likes my card very much. I made it for their wedding anniversary. I am glad to hear that.

About the movie, "Moby Dick", I haven't read a book about this movie but I heard. I can't find this 1998 movie title that Patrick Stewart starred to play Captain Ahab. I am fan of Patrick Stewart. He's from "Star Trek", u know.  I am disappointed but I am okay.  Instead, Gregory Peck played it, too, in this 1956 film. I do remember one of Stewart's "Star Trek" movies, "Star Trek: First Contact", has been mentioning "Moby Dick" during an argument between Captain Picard and 2063 black lady named Lily Sloane, played by Alfre Woodard.  I guess Stewart have no idea that he was going to play Captain Ahab in "Moby Dick" until 2 years later.

Freedom Writers

Rating:★★★★★
Category:Movies
Genre: Drama
Have u seen the movie, "Freedom Writers"? It's very good and real story about a high school teacher named Erin Gruwell in Long Beach, California. I like this movie very much. Wow! This movie was made from a book written by her and students. It's true. I am impressed at what Ms. Gruwell doing to help crazy and troubled students in her English Class. She's smart. Mrs. Gruwell helped troubled students to understand the situation of gang and racist issues. The students did turning around in their life successfully. I have heard about this great high school teacher few years ago. She was on Oprah in real life for discussing bio-movie with an audience. U will be surprised to see more details in it but I can't give them to u until u sees it. I am recommending this excellent bio-movie to u. See a video of this movie in my homepage, please, if u don't know what this movie is about. See a link called Freedom Writers Foundation in this Multiply.

Tomorrow Will Be My Parents' 45th Wedding Anniversary

My parents will be celebrating their 45 years of marriage tomorrow. I created this special card for my parents by Hallmark in my computer yesterday and minutes ago. Cute. I cut out those pictures from a photo and transferred them into the front page of card. I put selected pictures of them altogether in it. Anyways, I can't believe my parents have been married 45 years. Wow! I am very good making at that card. It looks neat.
See my last year's Yahoo 360 blog that I typed about my parents below if u missed reading it:

Valentine Day 2008: Wal-Mart Trip

As I am typing this blog, I am waiting for my Valentine brownie to be ready coming out. It's in an oven this time. I baked it myself. Smelling so good!
2:41 pm: Valentine brownie is out of an oven. I smelled it so good! I am going to eat it after dinner tonight.
I went to Wal-Mart this morning. The weather turns out chilly. Brrrr! I am wearing my Valentine sweater that my then boyfriend gave me for Christmas in 1994 with an announcement of Valentine trip in his letter and hair things. I love the sweater very much. I never forget that Christmas gift he sent to me. Anyways, I had a breakfast at McDonald's there. I ordered Breakfast Burrito and a coffee. After I ate breakfast, I went on continuing to do shopping. I was disappointed when I found out my floppy disk won't sending pictures to the computer in the Photo Department. Someone sent pictures to me recently. Also, I have more pictures in other floppy disks. Where can I get these photos from floppy disks? I haven't using them in a long time since few people I know sent photos to me until now. Help me to find somewhere, please. And then I had to do more shopping. I bought a stainless 8x8 baking pan and a plastic container for Valentine brownie. More floppy disks for my blogs. And then I am done food shopping.
I have no Valentine plans tonight.  I stay home but I am okay.  I will eat a pizza and a piece of delicious brownie.

About Hawaii and Author

According to James Houston's book, "Bird of Another Heaven", I learned what happened to Hawaii in 1893.   Kingdom of Hawaii was overthrown by missionary boys.  Missionary boys were responsible for getting rid of Hawaiian Culture.  See my review about his book in this Multiply.

I had no idea that President Clinton in 1993 signed an Apology Resolution to Hawaii for the overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1893 until I went to check out the history of Hawaii in Wikipedia.  I guess this is a wonderful news to the people of Hawaii.  Missionary boys lost a battle against it but I know that they already passed away.  Otherwise, Hawaiian Culture is already coming back and a success.  Hawaiian people will never forget their important culture that ancestors passed on to them.

Here is a link of Apology Resolution 1993 by Wikipedia below:

I just finished reading a book about the story of part Hawaiian, part Indian, part Californian lady in the 19th century that author, Sheridan Brody, researched and wrote on personally yesterday morning (Monday February 11th). This real author, James D. Houston, made it up but parts of story in the book are true historically. He mentioned landmarks many years before the Golden Gate Bridge developing and few famous leaders. Parts in it are discussing Hawaiian and American Cultures. As I was reading it, I felt I want to go to Hawaii but one day I will. LOL! I enjoyed reading it. I love it. It’s wonderful experience for Sheridan Brody to find out but I can’t give you long details. Brody’s Hawaiian/Californian great grandmother named Nani Keala as known Nancy Callahan to Americans wrote very private journals for many years. She accounted Hawaiian King David Kalakaua. Before I borrowed this book, I’ve checked an information about the history of Hawaii in Wikipedia and learned about Hawaiian Royal Family. I do remember King David Kalakaua’s name have been mentioned in that book. I was surprised. Houston did a wonderful job by doing a research on the history of Hawaii and California. Houston also mentioned the missionary boys who wanted to get rid of Hawaiian Culture in that book. This is a true. It reminds me of DVD movie, “Hawaii”, about the missionary boys. I am recommending this great book to you if you haven’t heard about Hawaiian Culture.

Friday February 8, 2008: Port Orange Public Library

This is Port Orange Public Library.
I am back to do blogging this now. Yesterday, I didn't do it cuz I wasn't feeling well personally.
Last early Friday afternoon, I went to the library in Port Orange with my mother. Port Orange is south of my hometown and Daytona Beach International Airport that is next to the speedway (the car race). On the way to Port Orange, I noticed the hospital, west of my college, in Daytona Beach is changing and expanding. That 1928 hospital is getting another building, the North Tower. When I saw that building, my reaction was wow as I was staring at it. According to the Wikipedia, the North Tower will get new 180 hospital beds and a new ER Department that will be a larger than the current one at Halifax. The construction of North Tower will be finished in 2009. Anyways, Joe dropped us off there when we arrived there but Joe is not going in cuz he has a business somewhere. Mom and I stayed at Port Orange Public Library for 5 hours. Inside in there, I realized there's an air conditon when I felt cold. I had no idea. I should to wear a different sweater instead of the other one that I worn that day. I looked at movies on shelf while my mother was having a chat with a lady friend at the table. I guessed they were having a discussion of Mom's church. I felt boring after I picked out 4 DVD movies and was waiting for Joe to come back to get us. Mom and I had talked with another lady named Kim D. that I have known for many years since we moved here. She works at this library and knows the sign language. Children went wild there after school as my mother was reading a book about an angel. Cute kids. I laughed at them quietly. I asked Mom what time the library closes. She replied 5 pm. Oh. Then we went outside and waited for Joe. The weather made us chilling. Finally, Joe arrived and picked us up and then went home. I had a fun at the library.

Photo of Dad, Joan Ocean, Mom, and Me

Joan Ocean sent e-mailing this photo with other pictures to me last Sunday night. I had been waiting for them 2 weeks until they arrived in from Hawaii. Before they came in unexpectedly, I was going to ask Joan about a picture of us. This photo was taken at Agnes' Memorial Service reception at the church on January 20th as Mom, Dad, and I were about leaving there for going home that evening. Nice picture.

Grandmother O'Lone's Little White House

Grandmother O'Lone used to live in that little house for many years. That's where my father grew up in. She is the mother of my father. It's few blocks from the beach. It's closer there. That house, I think, is their 2nd one since Granny and Dad moved to Daytona Beach. Those pictures were taken on November 6, 1996, months before they were about demolished to make a room for a new building of parking spaces across the street from a huge building of Ocean Center where any kind of entertainments, sports, special events, and businesses is held.

Entry for February 04, 2008

Last Saturday I went back to the deaf club. We were going to play a Fingo game at Easter Seals. I brought my supper there from KFC where my Dad picked up my supper and delivered it to me. I was disappointed to find my dinner getting cold quickly again. The plastic bag of my supper sat on the seat in the back of my father's car and was waiting for me. I can't reach to get it while I was on the way to the deaf club. But I am okay. The food is good. At the deaf club, we chatted and played. I made 2 checks paying to a deaf club official. One for a membership due. And the other is a ticket to The Price is Right game that will take a place at the community center on March 22nd. I had been attended to The Price is Right game for about 6 years. I won it once. It's a fun to play. I enjoyed it. Anyways, at Fingo game, I didn't win that night but I had a fun. The Valentine cake someone made tasted okay. Nadine, my deaf friend, gave me a free prize when the game was over. How nice of her. She asked me if I want them. I replied yes. I had plenty of time to chat with some friends after the game was over until the bus arrived to pick me up for taking me back to home.
My mother loaded me a pair of cute, cool jeans last Friday. They belong to her. I did try them on and they fit me that Friday night successfully. Wow! I feel good about them. I can't find the label tag anywhere inside the cool jeans but they could be a size 6. I wanted to wear them for last Saturday night cuz I don't have enough size 6 jeans in my bedroom closet. Only size of these jeans in there is 12 but I still have size 8 carpi jeans that almost fit me and I use for hot days only. I was comfortable to wear them. Thanks to Mom. The brand name of these cool jeans is Levi & Strass Co. that was made in San Francisco, CA. I love it! It's so PERFECT that I wore! I feel like I am skinny. LOL!
My Dad came over to visit me for a 2nd time last night. He brought a plastic container of potato chips that my mother doesn't want to eat anymore and a laundry bag of cleaned stuff to me. Dad wanted to watch Super Bowl so I changed the channel for him. I don't want to watch it but I had to for him. I noticed his fingernails are too long and not in smooth shapes so I've decided to cut them for Dad. I laughed when I said I promise him I am not hurting his fingers. LOL! Dad scolded at me but he's kidding and funny. He thought I scared him. LOL! After I cut off his fingernails, Dad asked me where I get them. I repiled it's all in my head. He also said I am pretty smart. Yes, it's true. Minutes later, Dad went home.

Entry for February 01, 2008

As u can see something in that photo above, LOL, a stuffed animal, rabbit, sat on top of van and waving at drivers. LOL! I spotted that rabbit and was curious looking at it as Mom was driving her Honda car on a popular Granada Blvd on the way to a big house that Mom wanted me to look at this early afternoon. Cute stuffed animal. Traffic was about getting crowded as we were getting near Wal-Mart during lunch hour. I decided to take this picture for showing u bloggers cuz I thought it looks so funny. The reason I brought my digital camera with me is that I planned to have those photos to be developing and printing at Wal-Mart. Saw a rabbit on top of van was unexpected.
I went to Wal-Mart after Mom showed me to look at a big house today. After I developed and printed photos, I was thinking about about buying a pair of cool jeans that could be fit me cuz I don't have enough pairs of cool jeans that should be a size 6 at home. Yes, I already had figured it out when I tried other pants on at home. I was shocked to find out what size of pants that I wore last year. I can't believe it. Not size 12 anymore! I still have size 12 and medium pants. It's now between 6 and 8 but I feel like it's almost 4. Anyways, but I changed my mind about it when I checked out how much its costs. I've decided not to buy them yet. Next time. I love cool jeans very much! After that, I spotted Mom in another aisle and talked to her little bit and then I went to McDonald's for my lunch. I ordered McChicken Sandwich and a medium drank. Afterwards, I continued to do a food shopping. I found Mom again when I finished shopping and was about going into the counter. Mom wanted to stop by at a health food store afterwards for buying her own items. And then I went home.
About a big house I was telling u above, it looks like a mansion and have a swimming pool. Beautiful yellow. It also looks like an Easter and reminds me of my childhood light yellow suit. LOL! I wore a light yellow suit on Easter Sunday when I was 12 or 14. I still have a picture of me in that yellow suit but not here, it's at my parents' house. Back to the house, Mom likes it and is thinking about buying it but she's not ready yet and undecided. That house also have a in-law suite in the back of mansion. It gave Mom an idea for me to live in. I will probably be in there, too.
That's it for now. I need a break.
Have a great weekend!
